History and Goals
Where did we start?
Buffalo Stone Orchard was established in 2020 with a specific goal in mind. We wanted to have an orchard that is based on the permaculture design, no chemicals, just natural fruit and vegetables.
The first set of trees where planted in May of 2021 and on June 20th of 2021 there was a frost that affected all of the trees. That year due to the frost a few trees did not survive but I was shocked as to how many did survive. This gave me encouragement to continue expanding the orchard.
In 2022 we expanded on the varieties and types of trees including fruit trees, fruit bearing shrubs, maple trees, oak trees, pine trees as well as experimenting with seeds from fruit we bought from the grocery store.
This year in 2023 we are adding to our varieties but will be concentrating more on infrastructure so that people can come out and enjoy the orchard for the day.
